Spoor reads the job boards of the companies it tracks: every open posting, with its description, pay, locations and level, and the statistics drawn from them. You can read all of it without an account, and almost nothing about you is kept. This page lists exactly what is.
Reading the site
- No cookies. Spoor sets none, and runs no advertising or tracking scripts.
- Your theme. Choosing light or dark saves
spoor-themein your browser's storage. It stays in your browser and is never sent to Spoor. - Page counts. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
- Server logs. The server records each request's time, page and browser type for up to 14 days. Every request reaches it through Cloudflare, so the address it records is Cloudflare's, not yours.
Requesting a company
The Request a company form stores what you type into it: your email address, the company's name, its URL and, if you give one, its careers URL, along with the time you sent it. It is read by a person, to decide whether to track the company and to reply to you about it.
To stop the form being flooded, your IP address is held in the server's memory for at most an hour. It is never written to the database or to disk.
What is never done
Nothing is sold, used for advertising, or shared with anyone beyond the two services below.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site. It carries every request, so it sees your IP address. It also serves cached pages, runs the page counts and forwards mail sent to [email protected].
- Hetzner hosts the server and its database in Nuremberg, Germany, and keeps a nightly backup of the whole disk.
How long it is kept
A request is kept as the record of what was asked for, until you ask for it to be removed. Once removed, it can remain in Hetzner's nightly backup for up to seven days.
The job postings
The postings are public listings, read from companies' own job boards. A company that wants its boards left out can write to [email protected].
Seeing, correcting or removing your data
Write to [email protected] from the address you used. Anything Spoor holds under it will be sent to you, corrected, or deleted, whichever you ask for.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything new Spoor starts to keep about you is added here before it is collected.
