Medical Assistant – Dumfries, VA
Spectrum Healthcare Resources, in partnership with Kako'o, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join the team at the Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
This is a full-time opportunity to work in an outpatient healthcare setting supporting the care of active-duty military members, veterans, and their dependents. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors and assist with the check-in process
- Review medical records and ensure required documentation is complete and properly maintained
- Verify patient eligibility and assist with required insurance and identification documentation
- Schedule and coordinate treatments, appointments, and services as requested by providers
- Answer and appropriately route telephone calls while maintaining patient confidentiality
- Respond to patient questions and administrative concerns and direct clinical concerns to the appropriate staff
- Maintain front-desk forms, supplies, and inventory
- Assist clinical staff with obtaining and tracking medical records, pathology reports, imaging, and other documentation
- Maintain accurate logs and electronic records as required
- Prepare routine correspondence, medical statements, and other documentation as directed
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the clinical team
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or an associate degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited college
- Previous experience working in a medical or healthcare setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Proficiency with computers, basic word processing, data entry, and electronic medical records
- U.S. citizenship required
