Job Description

Across Western Australia, Sodexo manages the operations, maintenance and refurbishment of non-process infrastructure for clients in the mining and oil and gas sectors. We deliver the quality catering, hospitality and facilities services that keep the resource sector running.

About the role

Sodexo Projects is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our professional, passionate team on a permanent, full-time basis. Based out of our Balcatta office, with regular travel to site as needed, this role suits someone who combines strong IT and technical capability with proven management skills to deliver projects successfully.

As IT and Technical Project Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering technology-driven transformation initiatives that enable business modernisation and digital innovation. You will ensure projects align with strategic objectives, drive operational efficiency and support the organisation’s roadmap.

The Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) and Keyless Entry Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering GPON fibre infrastructure and keyless entry projects across multiple Rio Tinto villages in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The role is Perth-based, with regular travel to project sites to oversee delivery, coordinate contractors and stakeholders, and ensure works meet the required standard.

You will act as the key point of coordination between Rio Tinto, project stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring GPON infrastructure and keyless entry systems are successfully integrated, fully operational and handed over to the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management and Delivery: Lead GPON and keyless entry projects across multiple Rio Tinto villages in the Pilbara, managing scope, schedules, budgets,  and deliverables from initiation through to completion.
  • Technical Coordination: Oversee the design, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of GPON fibre infrastructure and keyless entry systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and client requirements.
  • Site and Contractor Management: Coordinate site activities, subcontractors, technicians, suppliers and other trades, undertaking regular site visits from Perth to monitor progress and ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication with Rio Tinto client, contractor, consultants, service providers and internal teams, providing progress updates and resolving project issues.
  • Commercial and Procurement Management: Manage project budgets, contractor costs, variations and financial reporting to maintain cost control.
  • Quality, Safety and Compliance: Ensure all works comply with approved designs, relevant Australian Standards, safety requirements, quality procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Documentation and Handover: Maintain accurate project records, progress reports, review as-built drawings, test results and commissioning documentation, ensuring a complete handover to the client and operational teams.
  • Risk and Performance Management: Identify and manage project risks, technical challenges, delays and delivery issues, implementing corrective actions to maintain programme, quality and client satisfaction.

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in IT project management with experience in transformation and digital initiatives.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex technology projects in dynamic environments.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum preferred.
