Job Description:

The Opportunity

As Aftermarket Sales Manager, you will be responsible for growing aftermarket revenue across Quantum Design's installed base throughout the region. This position focuses on expanding recurring revenue through service contracts, preventative maintenance programs, repairs, upgrades, and other support offerings. Working closely with Sales and Service leadership, the role develops strategies to increase customer engagement, improve service penetration, and strengthen long-term customer relationships while delivering sustainable revenue growth.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. While the position works closely with Regional Service Managers and other cross-functional partners, it is responsible for the commercial strategy, customer engagement, and revenue growth of the service business rather than the direct management of service personnel or day-to-day service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own service revenue growth across the Americas, with responsibility for achieving annual bookings and revenue objectives
  • Expand recurring revenue by growing service agreements, renewals, preventative maintenance programs, and multi-year support contracts
  • Build relationships with key commercial customers, research institutions, and user facilities where system uptime is critical to operations
  • Develop and close opportunities across the full-service portfolio, including preventative maintenance, repairs, upgrades, critical spare parts, training, and other support solutions
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline, forecast, and renewal schedule in Salesforce while providing regular updates on revenue performance and growth opportunities
  • Partner closely with Regional Service Managers to align customer needs with service capabilities and ensure successful delivery of contracted work
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights to help develop new service offerings that support long term growth and customer retention
  • Collaborate with Sales, Service, Product Management, and Operations teams to drive aftermarket business and improve customer satisfaction
  • Track performance against key metrics, including service revenue growth, contract renewal rates, service agreement penetration, pipeline health, and customer retention

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
  • Six years of sales experience, preferably selling technical products, scientific instrumentation, capital equipment, or related markets
  • Demonstrated success achieving revenue quotas and growing aftermarket or service-related business
  • Experience selling service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, repairs, upgrades, or technical support contracts
  • Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Ability to travel within the QD territory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting cryogenic, superconducting, semiconductor, quantum computing, or advanced scientific instrumentation markets
  • Background working with research institutions, national laboratories, universities, or highly technical commercial customers

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is 100% onsite. The employee will report to our facility in San Diego, CA five days a week
  • Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000, yearly, plus comprehensive benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and skills. In addition to base salary, this position offers the opportunity to earn sales commissions as part of the overall compensation package.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, employee assistance program, and other company-sponsored benefits
  • Ability to travel up to 50% throughout the Americas to support customer engagement, business development, and service growth initiatives
