Within this team, the Master Data, Data Governance & Market Data group ensures robust data practices, governance, and actionable insights to support strategic business decisions across the organization.
Role Purpose
The Market Data Lead is accountable for the strategy, evolution, adoption and value realization of Market Data Foundation (MDF), Opella's global market data and sell-out intelligence data foundation.
MDF provides a centralized foundation for Global Sell-Out (SO), Point-of-Sale (POS) and syndicated market data, bringing together data from external market-data providers such as IQVIA, Circana and other strategic sources across markets. The platform enables standardized, trusted and timely access to market performance, growth, competitive and market-share insights.
The Market Data Lead acts as the strategic bridge between business, data, technology and external data providers, translating business needs into a clear product vision and roadmap while ensuring that the underlying data products are scalable, governed, reliable and fit for decision-making.
The role owns the product from strategy and prioritization through delivery, adoption, continuous improvement and value realization.
Key Accountabilities

- Define and continuously evolve the vision, strategy and multi-year roadmap in alignment with Opella's business and data strategy.
- Establish a clear product operating model covering business capabilities, data products, technology, governance and user experience.
- Identify opportunities to increase the business value generated from market and sell-out data.
- Translate strategic business priorities into a prioritized product backlog and investment roadmap.
- Balance short-term business needs with long-term scalability, standardization and architectural sustainability.

- Drive the evolution from market-specific solutions toward standardized, scalable global capabilities.
- Ensure that market data is accessible through fit-for-purpose products, APIs, analytical datasets and downstream consumption channels.
3. Data Provider & Vendor Management
- Own the product relationship with strategic market-data providers and technology partners.
- Partner with Procurement, Legal, Finance and business stakeholders on vendor strategy, contracts, licensing and commercial considerations.
- Drive vendor consolidation and rationalization where appropriate.
- Establish clear expectations for data availability, quality, timeliness, service levels and issue resolution.
- Evaluate emerging market-data providers and new data sources based on business value, coverage, quality and scalability.
- Ensure effective management of provider dependencies and data licensing constraints.
4. Data Quality, Governance & Trust
- Establish strong product-level accountability for data quality, completeness, timeliness and usability.
- Partner with Data Governance and Data Management teams to define and enforce relevant data standards.
- Ensure appropriate ownership of critical data elements, metadata, business definitions and data lineage.
- Drive resolution of systemic data-quality issues and recurring market/provider challenges.
- Establish product KPIs and data-quality measures that provide transparency to business stakeholders.
- Ensure that MDF remains a trusted source for market performance and competitive intelligence.
5. Product Delivery & Technology Partnership
- Work closely with engineering, architecture, data platform and delivery teams to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Own prioritization across enhancements, technical debt, platform modernization, data onboarding and business requests.
- Ensure delivery teams have clear objectives, requirements, acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes.
- Drive Agile product delivery practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure architectural decisions support scalability across markets, data providers and future analytical use cases.
- Proactively identify technology risks, dependencies and opportunities for automation and simplification.
6. Business Partnership & Adoption
- Build strong relationships with global and local business stakeholders who consume market and sell-out data.
- Understand business problems and translate them into scalable product capabilities rather than market-specific solutions wherever possible.
- Drive adoption of MDF capabilities across relevant markets and functions.
- Establish mechanisms to capture user feedback and translate insights into product improvements.
- Develop product communications, enablement and adoption strategies for new capabilities.
- Demonstrate measurable business value from the product through improved data accessibility, speed, quality and decision-making.
