The Job

As a Software Engineer on the Performance and Financial Products team, you will be a full-time coder focused on implementing features, building and maintaining Java full-stack components, and contributing to Databricks data pipelines. You will use Claude extensively for all coding needs and integration testing under the guidance of Senior and Principal engineers.

This is a hands-on implementation role with growing ownership of well-scoped work. You will collaborate closely with the broader Engineering, Product, and Data Management teams.

What You'll Do

At Omnidian we believe in trust and autonomy. Here is an outline of the balance of responsibilities:

Software & Data Engineering (80%)

Implement features and bug fixes in our Java full-stack codebase (Spring Boot backend + modern front-end).
Contribute to Databricks data pipelines and supporting Python scripts/components.
Write clean, well-tested code and use Claude daily for code generation, refactoring, debugging, and creating integration tests.
Participate in code reviews and follow team standards for quality, security, and documentation.
Debug issues and help improve system reliability and developer experience.

Collaboration & Learning (15%)

Participate in agile ceremonies, estimate work, and communicate progress.
Work with Senior/Principal engineers on design and larger features.
Learn and apply best practices for using Claude effectively and safely.

Continuous Improvement (5%)

Suggest and help implement small improvements to code, tests, or processes.

Who You Are

You are a solid software engineer who enjoys writing high-quality code, learning new systems, and using modern AI tools like Claude to move faster and produce better results.
You communicate clearly, treat teammates with respect, and are eager to grow in a Java + Databricks environment.

Experience You'll Need

2–6 years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent strong project/internship background).
Working proficiency in Java and Spring Boot (or strong willingness to ramp quickly in a Java full-stack shop).
Experience contributing to full-stack applications and writing SQL.
Familiarity with data pipelines or analytical systems; exposure to Databricks, Spark, or similar is a strong plus.
Comfort writing tests and working in modern development workflows.
Enthusiasm and readiness to use Claude as a primary tool for coding and integration testing every day.

Experience That's a Plus

Any hands-on Python experience.
Prior work with Databricks, Delta Lake, or cloud data platforms.
Previous use of Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding assistants.
Exposure to React/TypeScript front-end work, CI/CD, or basic cloud infrastructure.
Interest in data insights, financial/performance products, or the solar industry.
