Interested in a career that matters?

Are you passionate about using sensory science to turn product experiences into insights that make a difference?

Join our Food & Beverage sensory team in Food & Protein Applied R&D in Lyngby, where you will help strengthen sensory capabilities across Novonesis Food & Beverage Biosolutions.

Working in a team of sensory scientists and a sensory technician, you will collaborate closely with application scientists, technical service, commercial teams, marketing, consumer insights, and sensory colleagues globally.

We value scientific quality, curiosity, collaboration, openness, and practical solutions that create value for our customers.

The role & your impact

As our Sensory Scientist, you will play a central role in turning project and customer needs into robust sensory studies and actionable insights. You will combine hands-on sensory science with capability building, supporting colleagues across regions in establishing fit-for-purpose sensory practices and developing local competencies.

Your work will support new product development, launches, customer projects, and commercial activities across Food & Beverage Biosolutions.

Your key responsibilities in this role

  • Translate project and customer needs into fit-for-purpose sensory study designs.
  • Plan and conduct sensory evaluations using trained panels, including descriptive, discriminative, and fast methods.
  • Analyze sensory data, assess data quality and panel performance, and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Support regional colleagues in building sustainable sensory capabilities and applying consistent sensory practices.
  • Develop and deliver sensory training, practical guidance, methods, and supporting materials for regional and global teams.
  • Contribute sensory expertise to new product development, launches, customer engagements, market and competitor mapping, best practices, digital tools, and data management.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • An MSc or PhD in sensory science, food science, consumer science, or a related field.
  • Several years of practical experience designing and conducting sensory studies, preferably in a food industry setting.
  • Experience working with trained sensory panels, including training, calibration, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of sensory methodologies, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • The ability to translate scientific results into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders and facilitate discussions about sensory results with colleagues and customers.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

You are scientifically rigorous, analytical, curious, and well organized. You enjoy hands-on sensory work and are comfortable turning open questions into structured studies and practical recommendations.

You are also people-oriented and enjoy training, presenting, and engaging with colleagues across cultures and geographies. You involve others, listen to understand their needs, and build constructive relationships across different perspectives.

Additional skills & interests we value

It would be an advantage if you bring:

  • Experience with EyeQuestion or similar sensory software.
  • Experience with statistical tools such as EyeOpenR, R, or JMP.
  • Experience from the food, beverage, ingredients, or consumer-goods industry.

What we offer you

You will become part of a collaborative sensory team where scientific quality, curiosity, openness, and practical problem-solving are valued.

The role gives you the opportunity to combine hands-on sensory science with broader capability building, collaborating with colleagues across functions and geographies while contributing to sensory practices, training, and insights across Food & Beverage Biosolutions.

The position is based in Lyngby and includes hands-on panel and laboratory activities. Some travel will be required for customer engagements, training, and collaboration with regional teams.
