Job Location:

Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino

At Avani, we’re all about finding that perfect balance — between cool and kind, design and function, service and privacy. We’ve built our hotels and resorts around this philosophy: vibrant social spaces that vibe with the day, stylish rooms that simply work, and honest, locally inspired food. We embrace an upbeat service culture that genuinely respects the art of hospitality.

With a growing portfolio across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australia, Avani is a brand on the move. If you take real pride in the little things — and believe that a warm welcome and a genuine smile make all the difference — you’ll fit right in here.

We are looking for a passionate, forward-thinking and commercially aware Learning & Quality Manager to lead our learning, capability and quality agenda.

This key role is responsible for translating business priorities, operational performance, guest feedback and development needs into meaningful learning and capability solutions. Working closely with the People & Culture Manager, Hotel Leadership Team and Department Heads, the Learning & Quality Manager will play an important role in strengthening leadership capability, developing talent, supporting succession planning and building sustainable internal talent pipelines.

The role will also drive a culture of continuous learning, innovation, quality and service excellence, while championing digital learning, technology and the responsible use of AI to strengthen productivity and future-ready capability across the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning Strategy & Capability: Develop and drive the hotel’s Learning & Development plan, ensuring learning priorities are aligned with business needs, operational performance, brand standards and future capability requirements.
  • Talent Development & Succession: Partner with People & Culture and operational leaders to identify and develop high-potential talent, strengthen succession planning and create meaningful development and career pathways.
  • Leadership Development: Support the growth of Department Heads, supervisors and emerging leaders through targeted development, coaching and capability-building interventions.
  • Learning Culture: Build a strong culture of continuous learning where leaders take ownership of developing their teams and team members are encouraged to take ownership of their growth.
  • Digital, Technology & AI: Champion digital learning and the responsible use of technology and AI to enhance learning, productivity, innovation and future-ready capabilities.
  • Learning Delivery: Design, coordinate, facilitate and evaluate effective learning programmes, including onboarding, brand learning, compliance and operational capability development.
  • Quality & Service Excellence: Use guest feedback, quality findings and operational insights to identify development opportunities and partner with departments to strengthen service delivery and consistency.
  • Learning Systems & Compliance: Oversee learning systems, digital learning platforms, training records, course assignments and completion of required learning.
  • Analytics & Business Impact: Use learning data, quality results and business insights to evaluate the effectiveness of development initiatives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partnership & Influence: Build strong relationships across the hotel, working collaboratively with leaders, Job Skills Coaches and team members to embed learning, quality and people development into daily operations.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Business Management, Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Relevant experience within Learning & Development, talent development, organisational capability, training or quality.
  • Experience within hospitality or another service-driven environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting talent development, leadership development and succession planning.
  • Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Good analytical capability with an ability to translate data, feedback and operational insights into meaningful development interventions.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems and digital learning platforms.
  • Strong digital confidence, with curiosity and openness towards AI, emerging technologies and new ways of working.
