The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing all building maintenance, facility operations, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems. This role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and optimal performance across all mechanical equipment and physical assets.
- To plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions, and renovations.
- To comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire, health and safety licensing and provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.
- To continually monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel, and implement measures resulting in energy cost savings.
- To manage the department, in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
- Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritised and are dealt with in an efficient manner, by technically proficient and guest-friendly technicians
- He/she ideally should be certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Must be familiar with the operations and priorities of all other hotel operating departments.
- Advise other colleagues on Health & Safety rules and processes.
