WHO WE ARE
BCES Global is a North American electrical contracting platform delivering safe, reliable, and high‑quality power‑system services across industrial, commercial, utility, and mission‑critical environments. We combine deep local expertise with enterprise‑level resources to support grid reliability, system upgrades, predictive maintenance, and emergency response across Canada and the US.
WHAT WE OFFER
- 401K with 7% (US) / 5 % RRSP (CA) matching and immediate vesting
- 100% employer paid benefits
- Paid PTO
- Career development and advancement opportunities
- Travel and relocation opportunities throughout the larger organization
WHAT WE NEED
We're looking for a Director of Engineering to build and lead engineering as a true shared service across the entire BCES Global platform, owning the function's strategy, standards, and people across all operating companies, while also acting as a senior technical voice in business development, helping win and shape the larger, more complex work that a consolidated platform is uniquely positioned to pursue.
This is a build role. You'll design the operating model for how engineering is structured and delivered across a growing portfolio of acquired businesses, stand up the team and processes to support it, and represent engineering at the leadership table.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Engineering Strategy & Shared Services Leadership
- Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for engineering as a shared service across all BCES Global operating companies
- Design and implement the shared-services operating model: how engineering capacity, standards, tools, and expertise are governed and deployed across a multi-entity, multi-region platform
- Build out the engineering organization — hiring, structuring, and developing engineering managers and teams, whether centralized, embedded within OpCos, or a hybrid model
- Establish platform-wide engineering standards, methodologies, and QA/QC frameworks for design, testing, inspection, and technical services, ensuring consistency regardless of which OpCo a customer is served by
- Own the engineering function's budget, resourcing model, and cost/pricing structure for shared services
- Evaluate and implement engineering tools, systems, and technology platforms that scale across the organization
- Build the playbook and infrastructure to rapidly integrate the engineering capability of newly acquired companies into the shared-services model
-
Provide technical leadership and oversight for protection & control engineering programs across the platform, establishing design standards, review processes, and best practices for power system protection, relay coordination, control schemes, and commissioning activities
-
Lead and govern electrical engineering and design services across operating companies, ensuring technical excellence, code compliance, consistency in design methodologies, and the successful delivery of medium- and high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects
Business Development Leadership
- Sit as the senior technical partner to executive leadership and sales in shaping go-to-market strategy for engineering-driven work
- Lead technical input on major proposals, bids, and RFPs — particularly large, cross-OpCo, or platform-level opportunities that leverage the combined engineering capability
- Represent BCES Global in client, partner, and prospect discussions at a senior level, building credibility and trust in the platform's technical capability
- Identify and pursue opportunities where a unified engineering function creates competitive advantage — larger contracts, new verticals (e.g., data centers, renewable energy, EV infrastructure), and cross-border work
- Partner with M&A and integration teams to assess the engineering capability and technical risk of acquisition targets
Organizational Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering leaders across OpCos, creating a bench of talent and clear career pathways
- Define and track KPIs for the engineering function: utilization, quality, delivery performance, and contribution to revenue growth
- Report regularly to the executive team and board/investors on engineering function performance, capacity, and growth
- Champion a consistent engineering culture and standard of technical excellence across a geographically dispersed organization
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline); P.E. designation required.
- 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing multiple teams or sites
- Experience operating within, or building, a shared-services or multi-entity organizational structure — ideally within a PE-backed, roll-up, or acquisitive platform
- Proven track record leading engineering functions supporting electrical maintenance, power distribution, or related technical services
- Experienced managing and mentoring junior and remote teams throughout North America
- Strong commercial acumen, with direct experience supporting business development, proposals, or client relationships at a senior level
- Executive presence — comfortable presenting to boards, investors, and C-suite stakeholders, as well as clients where applicable
- Experience integrating acquired businesses or standing up new functions in a fast-growing organization
- Willingness to travel extensively across Canada and the U.S.
