Your Job

We are seeking an Advanced Product Design Engineer to join NPD Engineering in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. This experienced, hands-on role develops next-generation cooling solutions for optical modules, related optical communication technologies, and AI computing platforms.

About the Role:

This position leads front-end concept development, architecture exploration, rapid prototyping, and proof-of-concept validation for advanced thermal and liquid cooling solutions. The engineer will independently transform ideas into validated designs while working closely with Thermal Engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong product design capability, practical thermal knowledge, and concept-to-prototype execution to meet thermal performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.

Our Team

Molex is committed to creating a better future and improving people's lives through innovative technologies. With operations in over 40 countries worldwide, the company provides a full range of connectivity products, services, and solutions to industries including data communications, healthcare, industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics. Our team helps Molex establish and maintain leadership positions in key markets by developing innovative mechanical and thermal technologies.

What You Will Do

  • Front-End Concept Development
  • Develop cooling concepts for next-generation optical modules, optical communication technologies, and AI computing platforms.
  • Lead feasibility studies, architecture exploration, rapid prototyping, and proof-of-concept validation.
  • Independently drive design decisions from early concept through validated prototype.
  • Advanced Product Design
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Siemens NX.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design-for-manufacturing.
  • Translate customer, system, and thermal requirements into practical product designs.
  • Thermal & Liquid Cooling Solutions
  • Design cold plates, microchannels, manifolds, flow paths, TIM interfaces, and high heat-flux cooling assemblies.
  • Collaborate with Thermal Engineering teams to define analysis needs and translate simulation and test findings into design decisions; hands-on CFD execution is not required.
  • Optimize thermal performance, flow distribution, pressure drop, reliability, and package integration.
  • Prototype, Validation & Manufacturing
  • Coordinate thermal, flow, pressure, leak, mechanical, and reliability testing.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and design improvement based on validation results.
  • Evaluate brazing, laser welding, friction stir welding, diffusion bonding, and other joining methods based on manufacturing constraints and design limits.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to confirm feasibility and scalability.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of product design, thermal-mechanical development, or advanced engineering experience.
  • Strong Siemens NX capability for 3D modeling, assembly design, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience independently driving products from concept through prototype validation.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermal management, engineering materials, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Hands-on experience with liquid cooling, cold plates, optical module cooling, microchannels, manifolds, flow balancing, or pressure-drop optimization.
  • Knowledge of Thermal Interface Material (TIM) selection, thermal contact resistance, compression behavior, and high-power thermal design.
  • Experience developing thermal solutions for next-generation optical modules, high-speed optical communication products, and future connectivity technologies.
  • Strong thermal engineering knowledge with the ability to work closely with Thermal Engineering teams to define cooling requirements, review analysis results, and drive successful thermal solution development.
  • Ability to interpret thermal simulation and test data and convert findings into product improvements.
  • Understanding of vacuum brazing, laser welding, friction stir welding, diffusion bonding, and related joining design limitations.
