The Senior Manager, Customer Expansion will build and lead a scalable expansion motion across an established customer base. This role combines strategic commercial leadership with hands-on organizational building and people management. You will develop repeatable playbooks that turn customer engagement into product adoption, revenue growth, and retention. The role leads through frontline managers across BDR and Sales & Training Specialist functions while establishing clear operating rhythms and performance metrics. You will work closely with Account Management, Sales, Training, Marketing, Product, and Revenue Operations to remove friction and scale successful customer-growth initiatives. Accountabilities:
- Build and lead the Customer Expansion organization, developing a high-performing team through frontline leaders across BDR and Sales & Training Specialist functions.
- Develop and refine repeatable expansion playbooks covering customer identification, outbound engagement, product education, activation, and follow-through.
- Establish the BDR-to-Sales & Training Specialist motion, along with playbooks for events, in-person training, and other high-touch customer expansion opportunities.
- Define the team's operating cadence, performance metrics, accountability systems, and leading indicators to identify gaps and drive action.
- Partner with Account Management, Sales, Training, Marketing, Product, and Revenue Operations to identify expansion opportunities and reduce friction throughout the customer journey.
- Build structured feedback loops to understand what is working, where customers encounter challenges, and which commercial motions should be scaled.
- Test, iterate, and operationalize new expansion strategies as customer needs and business priorities evolve.
- Coach and develop frontline leaders while creating clarity, structure, and accountability across the organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of B2B sales, customer growth, or related commercial experience, including 3+ years managing and developing sales teams and frontline leaders.
- Proven experience building and scaling teams, ideally within a high-growth or evolving organization.
- Strong operational discipline, with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems, establish meaningful metrics, and follow through on execution.
- Strong commercial judgment and an understanding of how customer engagement translates into revenue, adoption, and retention.
- Demonstrated ability to build processes, playbooks, and operating rhythms from the ground up.
- High ownership, initiative, and a strong bias toward action.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to move effectively between strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
- Experience building expansion, cross-sell, account-growth, or customer-revenue motions is a plus.
- Experience managing BDR and/or Sales & Training Specialist teams through frontline leaders is an advantage.
- Experience with events, field sales, customer training, or other high-touch commercial activities is desirable.
- Experience working across both SMB and Enterprise customer segments is a plus.
- Familiarity with dental, healthcare, SaaS, or recurring-revenue businesses is beneficial.
