This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Executive Account Manager – Field Sales based in Canada.
This is a high-impact, travel-intensive field sales role focused on growing an assigned territory across Canada.
You will build strategic relationships with laboratory customers, from bench-level scientists to senior decision-makers and procurement stakeholders.
The role combines consultative selling with strong technical expertise in chromatography, sample preparation, and mass spectrometry.
You will help customers optimize workflows, evaluate solutions, troubleshoot applications, and identify opportunities for broader adoption.
Success will involve achieving sales, profitability, unit, and market-share objectives while developing significant long-term business.
Working independently across a geographically dispersed territory, you will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to turn customer insights into commercial opportunities.
With approximately 50–75% travel, this position is suited to an experienced scientific sales professional who enjoys customer engagement and a dynamic field environment.
Accountabilities:
- Grow the assigned territory through prospecting, account expansion, strategic account development, and achievement of sales, gross-profit, unit, and market-share objectives.
- Provide technical, bench-level customer engagement by optimizing laboratory workflows, demonstrating products, addressing application challenges, and troubleshooting chromatography and sample-preparation solutions.
- Maintain a strong field presence through frequent customer visits, technical seminars, vendor shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Build and maintain multilevel relationships with laboratory users, technical influencers, business leaders, and procurement stakeholders.
- Manage strategic sales opportunities throughout the full cycle, from technical evaluation and solution development through commercial negotiation and close.
- Develop account plans, proposals, and long-term commercial agreements that support sustainable territory growth.
- Capture customer feedback and market intelligence to help inform product development, commercial strategy, and future opportunities.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, and other internal teams to align customer needs with broader business objectives.
- Independently organize territory activities, prioritize opportunities, and manage resources across a geographically dispersed customer base.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline, combined with 5+ years of experience in an outside sales role.
- Deep technical expertise in sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts, products, and applications effectively to laboratory customers.
- Demonstrated experience in sales, technical sales, or customer service within the life sciences or laboratory market is preferred.
- Strong understanding of consumables sales and relevant target industries, markets, or laboratory techniques in the region.
- Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software and proficiency with digital and AI-enabled sales tools to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Strong territory planning, prioritization, organization, and independent working skills.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, consultative selling, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with approximately 50–75% of working time spent visiting customers throughout Canada, including regular multi-day and overnight trips.
Benefits
- Annual base salary of CAD $85,000–$100,000.
- Sales Incentive Compensation, with total target compensation at plan of CAD $145,000–$180,000.
