This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Solutions Architect based in the United States.

The Solutions Architect will lead the technical design of innovative web, mobile, and AI-powered products for a diverse portfolio of US-based clients. Acting as the primary technical partner from initial discovery through delivery, you will translate business ideas into scalable architectures, clear technical specifications, and actionable engineering plans. You will oversee system design, integrations, security, privacy, and AI implementation while ensuring solutions meet client requirements. Rather than focusing on production coding, you will guide engineers, review technical decisions, and maintain high engineering standards throughout each project. Working in a fast-paced product development environment, you will collaborate directly with clients, founders, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. This contract opportunity offers significant autonomy, technical ownership, and exposure to a broad range of digital products.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will own the technical direction and quality of client projects, ensuring that proposed architectures are practical, secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead technical discovery sessions with clients, identify business requirements and constraints, and translate initial ideas into clear solution designs.

  • Design system architectures for web, mobile, and AI-powered products, covering services, data models, hosting infrastructure, and system interactions.

  • Develop the technical components of proposals and scopes of work, including modules, user flows, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and realistic estimates.

  • Design third-party integrations and vendor connections, accounting for APIs, webhooks, retries, queues, monitoring, and provider flexibility.

  • Plan multi-tenant and white-label architectures with appropriate data isolation and access controls.

  • Integrate security and privacy considerations from the outset, including encryption, audit logs, consent management, data residency, and external audit requirements.

  • Design AI and LLM-powered features, including model selection, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), guardrails, and production evaluation frameworks.

  • Define phased delivery strategies that prioritize lean MVPs while preserving a scalable architecture for future development.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams to assess scope, timelines, dependencies, and delivery risks, raising concerns early when expectations are unrealistic.

  • Review code, pull requests, and engineering approaches to ensure implementation remains aligned with the approved architecture.

  • Guide and unblock engineers, establish technical standards, and maintain responsibility for technical quality through delivery and handover.

  • Maintain clear and up-to-date architecture documentation to ensure continuity and shared technical understanding across teams.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader with a strong software engineering background, proven client-facing architecture experience, and the ability to communicate complex technical decisions clearly. You should bring:

  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, including 2 or more years designing systems as a Solutions Architect, Technical Lead, or in a comparable role.

  • Experience working in an agency, consultancy, or product development studio, managing multiple client projects and switching between priorities effectively.

  • Proven ownership of the architecture of client-facing products that have been deployed and used by real customers.

  • Strong backend and data architecture fundamentals, including API design and relational database modeling with PostgreSQL or comparable technologies.

  • Cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including containers, deployment processes, and monitoring.

  • Practical experience designing third-party integrations involving APIs, webhooks, SSO, OAuth, background queues, and failure handling.

  • Hands-on experience architecting AI and LLM features, including RAG solutions and production evaluation, with an understanding of their impact on cost, latency, and testing.

  • Strong code and architecture review skills, with the ability to identify implementation issues and communicate solutions effectively to engineers.

  • Confidence leading client-facing technical discussions and explaining complex trade-offs in accessible language to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to produce clear technical scopes and realistic estimates that engineering teams can deliver against.

  • An AI-augmented working approach, using AI tools regularly for architecture, technical reviews, and documentation.

  • Excellent written and spoken English, as you will communicate directly with clients and prepare technical documentation.

  • Additional experience that would be an advantage:

  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture, row-level security, or white-label deployments.

  • Products involving strict privacy, compliance, sensitive personal information, data residency requirements, or external security audits.

  • Mobile application architecture using React Native or Flutter.

  • Experience reviewing TypeScript, Node.js frameworks such as NestJS, and React or Next.js applications.

  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and establishing technical standards across development teams.

Benefits

  • Fully remote contract position, open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.

  • Hourly compensation.

  • Exposure to a diverse portfolio of web, mobile, and AI-powered products serving the US market.

  • A steady pipeline of client projects within a growing team.

  • Significant ownership of technical architecture and design, with flexibility to shape solutions rather than follow a rigid playbook.

  • Direct access to decision-makers and clients, with minimal organizational layers.

  • Collaboration with a peer network of engineers, designers, and project managers working across complementary projects.

  • An autonomous, fast-moving environment that encourages initiative, curiosity, and continuous professional development.
