This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Assistant Editor based in India.

We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Assistant Editor to support a fast-paced, high-volume post-production environment. In this remote role, you will help keep editorial workflows running smoothly by preparing project files, organizing media assets, and coordinating seamless handoffs between editing, VFX, and color teams. You will play a key role in ensuring footage, project files, and final deliverables are accurately ingested, backed up, versioned, and archived. Your work will help prevent production delays, maintain technical quality, and make creative assets easy to access throughout the post-production process. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced post-production professional who thrives on precision, collaboration, and efficient workflows.

Accountabilities

  • Collate and organize project files, footage, graphics, music, and sound effects into complete, properly structured packages for editorial and post-production teams.

  • Relink offline media, consolidate projects, organize bins and timelines, and ensure all required assets are available before handoffs.

  • Synchronize audio and video and prepare stringouts or selects when required.

  • Track episode progress and proactively identify missing assets, technical issues, or potential delays.

  • Prepare VFX turnovers by exporting plates with handles, reference clips, and EDL/XML files according to specifications.

  • Maintain consistent VFX shot naming and numbering, update trackers, and package shot notes, reference frames, and editor instructions.

  • Integrate returned VFX shots into timelines and verify synchronization, frame accuracy, and version consistency.

  • Prepare locked cuts for color grading by simplifying timelines, flattening tracks, and removing unsupported effects.

  • Export XML, AAF, and EDL files alongside reference videos, ensuring all source media is accessible to the color team.

  • Conform graded media back into edits, make necessary patches, and perform quality checks against reference versions.

  • Ingest and verify camera footage, audio, graphics, and music using checksum-verified offloads.

  • Maintain consistent folder structures, naming conventions, version control, and searchable metadata across projects and deliverables.

  • Upload working files and backups to designated server locations and create proxies, transcodes, and alternate versions as needed.

  • Export and quality-check final masters against technical specifications, including resolution, codec, aspect ratio, captions, and audio loudness.

  • Archive completed projects using long-term cloud and offline storage, retrieve archived media when requested, and monitor storage capacity.

  • Keep asset trackers, delivery logs, and archive records accurate and up to date.

Requirements:

  • 3–5+ years of experience as an Assistant Editor, Media Manager, or in post-production operations.

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, particularly Project Manager, media consolidation and relinking, and proxy workflows.

  • Hands-on experience preparing VFX turnovers and color handoffs, including EDL, XML, AAF, and plates with handles.

  • Working knowledge of video codecs, formats, frame rates, resolutions, and export settings, with the ability to identify technical issues during quality control.

  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, particularly when maintaining naming conventions, folder structures, and metadata under tight deadlines.

  • Understanding of backup and archival best practices, including the 3-2-1 backup rule, checksum verification, and cloud and LTO storage.

  • Familiarity with checksum verification tools such as Hedge or ShotPut Pro.

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, or Airtable for tracking assets, turnovers, and deliveries.

  • Clear and proactive communication skills, with the ability to flag missing files, technical problems, and potential delays.

  • Nice to have: Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve and After Effects.

  • Experience with digital or media asset management and review platforms such as Frame.io, Iconik, Air, or CatDV, as well as shared storage solutions like Google Drive, Dropbox, or LucidLink.

  • Basic understanding of music licensing, clearances, and usage rights.

  • Previous experience in a high-volume content studio or episodic production workflow.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote working arrangement from home or a personal office in India.

  • Typical working schedule of 40 hours per week.

  • Opportunity to collaborate with international post-production teams, with working hours and overlap with the US team discussed during interviews.

  • Contract-based engagement.

  • Compensation listed at $15; the source does not specify the payment period or currency details beyond the dollar symbol.
