This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Industrial Power Systems Inspector based in the United States.

As an Industrial Power Systems Inspector, you will evaluate the safety, compliance, condition, and reliability of electrical infrastructure across commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. You will conduct detailed inspections of complex power systems, including switchgear, electrical distribution equipment, backup generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and battery installations. Using your technical expertise, you will identify potential hazards, assess maintenance practices, and verify compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards. You will review engineering drawings, perform field assessments, and provide actionable recommendations to help clients mitigate risks and improve operational reliability. Working across diverse facilities, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, translating inspection findings into clear reports that support informed maintenance and safety decisions. This remote-based opportunity offers experienced electrical professionals the chance to apply their expertise to projects that protect people, infrastructure, and critical operations.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct industrial power system inspections: Perform comprehensive assessments of electrical infrastructure in commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities to evaluate equipment condition, operational reliability, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Review electrical documentation: Interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and as-built documentation to verify field conditions and identify discrepancies between documented designs and installed systems.
  • Verify code and safety compliance: Assess electrical installations and operating practices against relevant National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, OSHA, IEEE, and client-specific standards and requirements.
  • Perform electrical safety assessments: Conduct arc flash hazard assessments, review existing arc flash studies, and identify electrical safety risks requiring corrective action.
  • Evaluate preventive maintenance practices: Inspect electrical equipment and assess maintenance programs against recognized industry guidance, including NFPA 70B recommendations.
  • Inspect critical power infrastructure: Assess service entrances, switchgear, electrical distribution systems, backup generators, UPS equipment, battery banks, and related infrastructure for condition, performance, and reliability.
  • Identify potential equipment deficiencies: Perform visual inspections and, where applicable, infrared thermography to identify overheating, loose connections, load imbalances, and other indicators of potential electrical failures.
  • Assess backup power systems: Conduct operational checks of UPS systems and battery installations, reviewing maintenance records, runtime conditions, and other relevant indicators of system readiness.
  • Document findings and recommendations: Prepare detailed inspection reports supported by photographic evidence, clearly identifying deficiencies, safety concerns, compliance gaps, potential risks, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Advise clients on technical findings: Communicate inspection results to clients and facility stakeholders, explaining technical issues in accessible, practical terms and recommending appropriate next steps.
  • Support risk mitigation and reliability improvements: Provide technical insights that help clients prioritize corrective measures, strengthen electrical safety programs, and improve the long-term reliability of their facilities.
  • Maintain professional inspection standards: Apply consistent inspection methodologies, sound technical judgment, and attention to detail across diverse facilities and project environments.

Requirements

  • Electrical qualifications: A licensed Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician credential is strongly preferred. Candidates with a degree in Electrical Engineering and two to three years of relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Relevant industry experience: At least five years of hands-on experience in industrial or commercial electrical power system installation, testing, inspection, or maintenance.
  • Electrical code and safety knowledge: Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, NEC requirements, OSHA regulations, IEEE guidance, and applicable electrical safety and compliance practices.
  • Electrical inspection expertise: Demonstrated ability to evaluate electrical infrastructure, identify deficiencies, assess equipment condition, and verify compliance with applicable codes and technical requirements.
  • Technical drawing interpretation: Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Industrial power systems knowledge: Familiarity with electrical distribution systems, switchgear, backup generators, UPS systems, battery technologies, and other critical power infrastructure.
  • Preventive maintenance and reliability: Experience assessing electrical maintenance programs, identifying equipment deterioration, and recommending measures to improve reliability and reduce operational risks.
  • Electrical hazard assessment: Knowledge of arc flash hazards, electrical safety assessments, and relevant preventive maintenance and risk management practices.
  • Inspection reporting and communication: Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate, well-organized reports and explain findings to clients and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Professional certification: NFPA Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) certification is highly desirable.
  • Military electrical experience: Military electrical training or experience is particularly valued, especially in industrial power distribution, generator systems, mission-critical infrastructure, and electrical safety programs.
  • Mission-critical facility experience: Experience working in data centers, hospitals, utilities, warehouses, military installations, or comparable environments is strongly preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities: Strong attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and the ability to identify potential hazards, interpret inspection findings, and develop practical corrective recommendations.
  • Professionalism and client service: The ability to work independently, communicate confidently with facility stakeholders, and maintain high standards of safety, accuracy, and integrity during inspections.

Benefits

  • Retirement savings: 401(k) plan.
  • Employer retirement contributions: 401(k) matching.
  • Healthcare coverage: Health insurance.
  • Dental coverage: Dental insurance.
  • Vision coverage: Vision insurance.
  • Health savings account: Access to a health savings account (HSA).
  • Paid time off: Paid leave to support personal needs and work-life balance.
  • Referral program: Employee referral program.
  • Remote work arrangement: Remote-based position within the United States, with on-site inspections and travel requirements potentially associated with project assignments.
  • Meaningful professional impact: The opportunity to contribute to electrical safety, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and the reliability of critical infrastructure across diverse facilities.
  • Varied project exposure: Opportunities to assess complex electrical systems and work across industrial, commercial, and mission-critical environments.
