This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Developer | Full Stack Embedded IoT based in Brazil.

Join an international, multidisciplinary engineering project focused on advanced embedded systems and IoT solutions. In this senior, hands-on role, you will design and develop software that connects wired and wireless devices within automation systems. You will work extensively with Embedded Linux, modern C++, and Python to build reliable, high-performance embedded applications. Your expertise will contribute to device control architecture, system integration, and troubleshooting across complex technical environments. Working alongside global development and product teams, you will help shape requirements, improve engineering practices, and contribute to open-source and inner-source initiatives. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to tackle challenging technical problems while collaborating with international professionals in an agile environment.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that integrate wired and wireless devices into automation systems.

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex issues involving embedded systems, software behavior, and device integration.

  • Participate in the architecture, design, and implementation of control devices based on Embedded Linux.

  • Develop and enhance embedded applications using modern C++, preferably C++17 or later, alongside Python and MicroPython.

  • Work with Linux-based embedded platforms, including the Linux Kernel, device drivers, and Yocto-based environments.

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows for embedded devices, using tools such as CMake, GitLab Runner, LAVA, or equivalent technologies.

  • Develop and integrate IoT communication protocols, including MQTT, CoAP, and HTTP.

  • Collaborate with international, multidisciplinary engineering and product teams to define requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

  • Contribute to open-source and inner-source projects, following collaborative development practices and upstream contribution standards.

  • Apply test-driven and behavior-driven development practices to improve software quality, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Participate in agile development processes using Scrum and/or Kanban.

  • Maintain technical documentation covering source code, APIs, system architecture, and implementation decisions.

  • Contribute practical engineering solutions through hands-on development, analytical thinking, and continuous technical improvement.

Requirements

  • Solid professional experience in software engineering for embedded systems.

  • At least five years of experience in object-oriented software development, preferably using modern C++17 or later.

  • Strong experience with Embedded Linux, including Yocto, Linux Kernel, and device drivers.

  • Practical experience developing software for microprocessors and embedded platforms.

  • Proficiency in Python and/or MicroPython, particularly for embedded applications and automation.

  • Experience implementing CI/CD workflows for embedded devices using tools such as CMake, GitLab Runner, LAVA, or similar solutions.

  • Knowledge of IoT communication protocols, including MQTT, CoAP, and HTTP.

  • Experience with Git and continuous integration tools such as GitLab CI/CD and/or Jenkins.

  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS).

  • Experience using Docker in development or deployment workflows.

  • Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and/or behavior-driven development (BDD).

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and/or Kanban.

  • Advanced or fluent English proficiency, both written and spoken, is mandatory for effective collaboration with international teams.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • A hands-on, proactive mindset and the ability to translate real-world challenges into practical, reliable technical solutions.

  • Nice to have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Experience with building automation systems.

  • Knowledge of BACnet and KNX protocols.

  • Familiarity with additional fieldbus protocols, such as Modbus and DALI.

  • Experience with project management.

  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities, such as Scrum Master or Product Owner.

Benefits

  • Compensation: The job description lists a monthly remuneration of R$ 15,600. A broader advertised range of R$ 15,600–R$ 18,000 is also shown, so the final amount should be confirmed during the hiring process.

  • Contract type: Ongoing independent contractor arrangement under the Brazilian PJ model.

  • Fully remote work: Work remotely from Brazil.

  • International exposure: Collaborate with global teams in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

  • Technical challenge: Contribute to a complex, high-impact project involving embedded systems, IoT, and automation technologies.
