This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Business Systems based in Canada.

Lead the evolution of business systems that power sales, marketing, billing, and financial operations in a fast-growing software environment. In this remote leadership role, you will define the technology strategy and architecture supporting the full quote-to-cash lifecycle, from initial customer engagement to revenue collection. You will manage an experienced team while remaining hands-on with key platforms, integrations, and technical decisions. Working closely with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Product leaders, you will build scalable systems that support new products, pricing models, and international expansion. You will champion automation, data quality, and practical AI adoption to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency. This is an opportunity to shape the commercial technology landscape while driving strategic impact in a mission-driven organization supporting the transition to solar energy.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for business systems supporting revenue operations, go-to-market activities, billing, and financial processes.

  • Oversee core platforms, including Salesforce Sales Cloud and Revenue Cloud, Continuous, Zuora, NetSuite, Gainsight, HubSpot, and other revenue operations tools.

  • Automate and optimize quote-to-cash workflows for both sales-led and self-service purchases, ensuring accurate and seamless data flows across usage tracking, billing, renewals, and financial systems.

  • Build a scalable systems architecture that accommodates new products, campaigns, pricing structures, and geographic markets without relying on unnecessary custom workarounds.

  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product, Accounts Receivable, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Deal Desk, and Data Analytics teams to align technology investments with business priorities.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, self-organizing team, establishing effective intake, backlog management, prioritization, and delivery practices.

  • Balance urgent operational needs with long-term roadmap execution, leveraging automation and AI tools to improve team efficiency and system management.

  • Document business processes, system architecture, dependencies, and edge cases to identify risks, close gaps, and prioritize improvements.

  • Simplify the technology stack by consolidating platforms, retiring outdated tools, controlling costs, and improving system performance.

  • Establish and maintain data governance, data quality, systems controls, and disciplined release management practices across CRM, billing, and ERP platforms.

  • Oversee system implementations, integrations, migrations, and re-architectures from requirements gathering through testing, deployment, and adoption.

  • Manage systems vendors, contractors, implementation partners, budgets, statements of work, and contract renewals.

  • Maintain appropriate financial systems governance, including SOX-ready controls and support for revenue recognition requirements.

  • Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to executive stakeholders, enabling informed decisions across business and technology teams.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of experience in business systems, revenue operations systems, finance systems, or a related field, including at least 4 years of team leadership experience.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Salesforce, particularly CPQ or Revenue Cloud, and a subscription billing platform such as Zuora.

  • Working knowledge of NetSuite or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.

  • Strong understanding of quote-to-cash and order-to-revenue processes in a B2B SaaS environment, including subscription, usage-based, or hybrid pricing models.

  • Proven experience leading complex systems implementations, billing transformations, migrations, integrations, and architecture redesigns from requirements definition through rollout.

  • Experience managing change and release processes, including environment management, testing, deployment planning, and release governance.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish data governance and data quality standards across CRM, billing, and ERP systems.

  • Experience building effective systems-team workflows, including intake processes, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and roadmap management.

  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to determine when to configure existing systems, develop custom solutions, integrate platforms, or redesign business processes.

  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and implementation partners, including budgets, statements of work, and renewals.

  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles and SOX IT general controls as they apply to financial systems.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs in accessible business terms.

  • Strategic thinking, sound financial judgment, and the ability to balance immediate operational demands with long-term scalability.

  • Preferred: Experience in solar, energy, or other SaaS businesses involving hardware or physical products.

  • Preferred: Experience supporting self-service or product-led purchasing alongside traditional sales-led operations.

  • Preferred: Experience with international expansion, including multi-currency environments, multi-entity structures, and regional tax requirements.

  • Preferred: Experience with Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA), Continuous, or similar usage-metering platforms.

  • Preferred: Familiarity with marketing automation and lead-to-opportunity processes.

  • Preferred: Salesforce, Zuora, or NetSuite certifications.

  • Must be based in Canada and able to work effectively in a remote environment.

    • Toronto and Vancouver: CAD $177,000–$225,200.

    • Other Canadian locations: CAD $160,900–$204,700.

    • Eligibility for additional bonus compensation and equity, subject to the applicable compensation plan and terms.

    • Flexible paid time off to support work-life balance.

    • Parental leave benefits.

    • Work-from-home stipend to support a productive home office.

    • Coworking stipend for access to alternative workspaces.

    • Dedicated learning and professional development opportunities.

    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

    • Energize Fridays, providing an additional opportunity to recharge and support employee well-being.

    • A remote-first, collaborative work environment that values transparency, inclusion, and diverse perspectives.
