This fully remote, temporary opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can quickly take ownership of key financial processes in a fast-paced e-commerce environment. You will play an important role in revenue accounting, transaction reconciliations, and month-end close, ensuring financial records remain accurate, complete, and compliant with US GAAP. The position focuses on direct-to-consumer sales, Amazon transactions, payment processing, and fulfillment data across multiple systems. You will also contribute to cost accounting, payroll-related setup, and the resolution of complex financial discrepancies. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help strengthen accounting controls and improve operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to apply your analytical skills, attention to detail, and practical accounting expertise in a hands-on assignment lasting three to six months.

Accountabilities

  • Manage direct-to-consumer revenue accounting through Shopify, including sales, refunds, chargebacks, gift cards, shipping revenue, and deferred revenue in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Reconcile Shopify transactions with payment processors, bank deposits, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) records to ensure accurate cash receipts and clearing account balances.

  • Support revenue recognition for Amazon Cold Ship transactions and reconcile Amazon Vendor Central sales and shipment data with fulfillment records.

  • Prepare weekly consolidated sales invoices and investigate discrepancies involving shipments, pricing, quantities, and transaction records.

  • Prepare monthly cost of goods sold (COGS) accruals, analyze variances against actual costs, and record appropriate accounting adjustments.

  • Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and resolving outstanding accounting discrepancies.

  • Assist with payroll reporting setup in Paylocity, general ledger account mapping, and payroll tax registrations for new states.

  • Analyze large volumes of transactional data to identify inconsistencies, investigate variances, and maintain reliable financial records.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting issues, improve reconciliation processes, and strengthen the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.

  • Maintain organized accounting documentation and ensure revenue, accruals, and reconciliations are completed accurately and within established deadlines.

  • Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least 4 years of professional accounting experience, including month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition principles, and accrual accounting.

  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret large transactional datasets.

  • Experience investigating discrepancies across financial systems and reconciling revenue, payment transactions, and fulfillment records.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to financial accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of accounting tasks in a remote environment.

  • A proactive, resourceful approach and the ability to quickly understand existing processes and contribute with minimal ramp-up time.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues.

  • Experience with Shopify, Amazon Vendor Central, e-commerce accounting, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) businesses is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Paylocity, payroll reporting, general ledger mapping, or multistate payroll tax registration is an advantage.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

  • Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $56 to $62 per hour.

  • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States.

  • Full-time schedule of approximately 40 hours per week.

  • Temporary assignment lasting approximately 3โ€“6 months.

  • Hands-on experience across e-commerce revenue accounting, payment reconciliation, cost accounting, and month-end close.

  • Opportunities to apply and strengthen expertise in Shopify, Amazon Vendor Central, and multichannel financial operations.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and the opportunity to contribute directly to accounting accuracy and process improvement.
