Role purpose
Own assigned planning workstreams from insight through recommendation, implementation, measurement, and learning; guide the team and raise issues with a proposed path forward.
Key responsibilities
Develop strategy and integrated plans
· Build and maintain working knowledge of assigned brands, categories, consumers, retail and commerce context, competitive activity, and business priorities.
· Turn objectives and audience insights into clear channel roles, investment recommendations, reach and frequency considerations, flighting, and full-funnel plans.
· Connect media decisions to brand outcomes and near-term performance; coordinate with commerce, CRM, creative, content, creators, data, technology, analytics, and measurement partners.
· Prepare clear, evidence-based presentations and recommendations that explain the insight, choice, expected contribution, and key trade-offs.
Manage execution, investment, and quality
· Lead planning, implementation coordination, tracking, and optimization across assigned workstreams; maintain current plans, timelines, decision logs, and status updates.
· Manage budgets, authorizations, pacing, flowcharts, financial trackers, and reconciliations with accuracy; identify variances and resolve or escalate them promptly.
· Coordinate campaign setup and in-market changes with activation teams and media partners; verify that plans, audiences, assets, and measurement requirements are aligned.
· Apply consistent quality checks to data, assumptions, deliverables, and platform inputs, especially under tight timelines.
Turn data and technology into action
· Use research, first- and third-party data where permitted, platform tools, competitive intelligence, and campaign reporting to identify actionable insights.
· Build measurement plans with appropriate brand and performance indicators; coordinate tests, evaluate results, and translate learning into optimization and future planning.
· Use automation, AI-enabled tools, and agentic workflows where they improve speed or quality; validate outputs, protect confidential information, and apply human judgment to recommendations.
· Stay current on platform changes, media behavior, consumer trends, and emerging opportunities; assess relevance before recommending adoption.
Guide the team and improve ways of working
· Direct and support the work of associates and assistants through clear briefs, delegation, feedback, coaching, and review.
· Collaborate across disciplines and partners; communicate decisions and changes clearly, share context, and invite the expertise needed to strengthen plans.
· Anticipate delivery risks, propose solutions, make informed day-to-day trade-offs, and escalate material issues early with options and implications.
· Contribute to continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, templates, and team capability.
Qualifications and experience
· 3–5 years of media planning experience, preferably across integrated and cross-channel assignments.
· Experience with CPG brands or categories, or a strong consumer-brand background with the ability to learn category and commerce dynamics quickly.
· Experience developing media recommendations, managing budgets, and supporting campaign implementation, tracking, and optimization.
· Sound understanding of media fundamentals, digital platforms, audience research, data, analytics, and measurement.
· Ability to interpret information, develop strategic insights, communicate clearly, and connect recommendations to brand and business objectives.
· Experience guiding or developing junior planners; strong delegation, organization, and relationship-building skills.
· Comfort working with automation, AI-enabled tools, and agentic workflows, including checking outputs and knowing when human review is needed.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
