Assistant Accountant

About this role

We are looking for a talented finance professional to join our growing Finance team as an Assistant Accountant. You will report to and work directly with the Finance Manager as a key member of the team responsible for general accounting operations and ad-hoc finance initiatives to drive operational efficiency. You will work closely and collaboratively with Finance team members to ensure complete and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards. Responsibilities

  • Accurate and complete of recording of expenses and revenues
  • Assist to update the group chart of accounts as directed by Senior Accountant/Finance Manager
  • Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable team to ensure all vendors’ invoices are recorded accurately into the accounting system
  • Prepare monthly accrual and prepayment lists, and record transactions in ERP system
  • Prepare monthly expenses schedules for management review
  • Support revenue-related transactional activities, including but not limited to: review and record of sales, preparation of cash reconciliation to revenues, and other ad hoc or recurring analysis
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Support month-end close activities, including but not limited to: record of month-end close transactions in ERP system, preparation of balance sheet schedules and reconciliations, preparation of other ad hoc and/or recurring analysis, and completion of bank reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports, including preparing notes to financial statements and other schedules for disclosures
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations, ensure unreconciling items are identified and properly recorded
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations as required, ensuring all unreconciled items are resolved on a timely manner
  • Others:
  • Follow process documentation, helping to update documents on a regular basis and when needed
  • Support any new accounting system implementations
  • Assist in fulfilling audit and/or tax requirements if required
  • Assist in other ad hoc tasks and projects

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree holder in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in handling accounting duties
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in MS Office (or equivalent), for data analysis and presentations
  • A team player, ability to build good relationships
  • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Self-driven with strong attention to detail

Optional

  • Conversational fluency in Cantonese (if candidate based in HK) or Mandarin (if candidate based in SG)
  • Experience in Oracle Accounting System
