Cochlear’s mission is to help people hear and be heard. As the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, Cochlear is dedicated to helping people with moderate to profound hearing loss experience a world full of sound. We aim to transform the way people understand and treat hearing loss and innovate to connect people with future technologies. Our employees tell us that the number one reason they enjoy working for Cochlear is the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives. Learn and grow with us as we tackle the most complex challenges in helping more people to experience a lifetime of hearing.
The Opportunity.
We’re looking for a Global Reward & Performance Specialist to join Cochlear’s global People & Culture team in Sydney.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of people, data and systems and wants to build deeper expertise across Reward and Performance. You’ll work with large and complex datasets, support global remuneration and performance cycles, support the maintenance of our job architecture and delivering market benchmarking activities, and help us continue to improve how we use data, technology and automation.
Importantly, you don’t need to have spent your entire career in Reward. We’re interested in people with strong analytical capability and relevant experience across areas such as HR analytics, workforce reporting, reward, performance or broader People & Culture operations, combined with a genuine interest in developing their reward and performance expertise.
What you’ll be doing
Working as part of our Global Reward & Performance team, you’ll support the delivery of programs and frameworks that impact employees and leaders across Cochlear globally.
You’ll:
- Support our annual performance and remuneration review cycles, including data preparation, validation, reconciliation, reporting and system administration.
- Work with Regional Reward Managers to prepare data for Workday Advanced Compensation, supporting testing, validation and administration.
- Maintain and improve Cochlear’s Global Job Framework, including job profiles, descriptors and job architecture data.
- Support job evaluation activities and help maintain strong global data governance.
- Manage annual market data survey submissions and support remuneration benchmarking and range reviews.
- Analyse reward, workforce and performance data to provide meaningful insights for People & Culture teams and leaders.
- Contribute to global Reward & Performance projects, system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Explore opportunities to use AI, automation and technology to improve efficiency, data quality and the employee and manager experience.
What will help you succeed
You’re likely someone who genuinely enjoys getting into the detail. You enjoy Excel, and you’re comfortable working with large datasets, spotting inconsistencies and turning information into something useful and actionable.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Around 2–4 years’ relevant experience across HR, Reward, Performance, Analytics, Workforce Reporting or a related discipline.
- Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, reconciliation and large dataset management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience producing reports, analysis and insights from HR or business data.
- Confidence working with employee and remuneration data where accuracy and integrity matter.
- Strong organisation and the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively and work with stakeholders across functions, regions and time zones.
- Experience using HR technology, ideally Workday.
- Some experience or understanding of remuneration, reward and benefits.
Experience with job architecture, job evaluation, remuneration reviews, performance cycles, market benchmarking or Workday Compensation/Performance would be valuable, but you don’t necessarily need to bring everything on day one.
Why this role?
This role offers something a little different: the opportunity to develop expertise across both Reward and Performance, rather than specialising narrowly in one area.
You’ll gain exposure to global remuneration and performance processes while building capability across analytics, market benchmarking, job architecture and workforce reporting. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to broader global initiatives and explore how emerging technology can make our Reward & Performance processes smarter and more effective.
