Meet the Team
We are seeking Software Technical Engineers to support the integration, deployment, validation, and lifecycle management of Private 5G Network Functions on Cisco UCS and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) server hardware.
In this role, you will integrate cloud-native and virtualized Network Functions with compute, storage, networking, Linux, and Kubernetes infrastructure. You will also design, develop, test, and deliver software features, APIs, automation capabilities, and platform enhancements based on product and operational requirements.
You will work closely with Software Engineering, Network Function Development, Hardware Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Support, Lab, Quality Assurance, Operations, and vendor teams to resolve technical and production issues and deliver reliable, repeatable, and production-ready Private 5G platforms.
Your Impact
• Deploy, configure, integrate, upgrade, validate, and support Private 5G Network Functions on Cisco UCS and COTS server hardware.
• Integrate cloud-native and virtualized Network Functions with compute, storage, networking, Linux, Kubernetes, and container infrastructure.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software features, APIs, tools, and automation capabilities that improve platform deployment, validation, and operations.
• Configure and validate server hardware, firmware, BIOS, storage, network interfaces, operating systems, container runtimes, and Kubernetes clusters.
• Maintain compatibility across hardware, firmware, operating systems, Kubernetes, platform software, and Network Function releases.
• Develop and improve automated installation, upgrade, rollback, health-check, configuration-audit, compliance-validation, and diagnostic workflows.
• Analyze logs, metrics, alarms, traces, packet captures, Kubernetes events, application behavior, and hardware telemetry to identify faults and determine root causes.
• Configure and validate high-performance networking capabilities such as VLANs, interface bonding, SR-IOV, DPDK, Multus, CPU pinning, NUMA alignment, and huge pages, where required.
• Work closely with SRE and Support teams to investigate production incidents, restore services, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering and Network Function teams to reproduce defects, collect diagnostic evidence, develop and validate fixes, and support software releases.
• Improve platform observability, reliability, scalability, security, performance, and supportability based on integration and production experience.
• Participate in feature design, code reviews, testing, release planning, technical reviews, change planning, and production-readiness assessments.
• Create and maintain deployment procedures, integration guides, compatibility matrices, troubleshooting guides, operational runbooks, configuration standards, and validation reports.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux, including system configuration, shell scripting, process management, log analysis, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Experience deploying, integrating, or supporting applications in Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Good understanding of server hardware, including CPU, memory, storage, RAID, network interface cards, firmware, BIOS, and hardware-management interfaces.
• Experience integrating software applications or Network Functions with physical, virtualized, or cloud-native infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, or a similar programming or scripting language.
• Experience designing or consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON and YAML.
• Familiarity with software-development practices, including version control, automated testing, code reviews, release management, and CI/CD.
• Experience using monitoring and diagnostic tools to analyze metrics, logs, alarms, packet captures, system events, and application behavior.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to isolate problems across multiple hardware and software layers.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, SRE, Support, Operations, and vendor teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of Private 5G architecture, Network Functions, interfaces, call flows, and deployment models.
• Experience integrating 4G or 5G Core Network Functions, radio-access components, orchestration systems, management platforms, or edge applications.
• Experience onboarding and validating cloud-native Network Functions (CNFs) or virtualized Network Functions (VNFs).
• Knowledge of high-performance packet-processing technologies such as SR-IOV, DPDK, Multus, CPU isolation, CPU pinning, NUMA, and huge pages.
• Experience with packet-analysis and Linux diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, ethtool, and iproute2.
• Understanding of high availability, redundancy, failover, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and production-readiness principles.
• Experience performing performance, scale, resiliency, soak, and failure-recovery testing.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes observability, hardware telemetry, centralized logging, dashboards, and alerting platforms.
