Authentic is a tech-enabled MGA (managing general agent). We design and run insurance programs for specific kinds of businesses, like restaurants, gyms, and power producers. Brokers bring us the businesses that need coverage, and carriers back our policies. Every program runs on a platform we built ourselves, and we own every line of code behind it. Engineers and insurance experts build it side by side in New York and Dayton, Ohio. Since our founding in 2022, we’ve grown to 80+ people and been named to the 2026 CB Insights Insurtech 50.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across our React frontend and Python/FastAPI backend
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to solve real customer problems
- Contribute to internal tools that help our team work more efficiently
- Work with data systems that drive risk assessment and claims decisions
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and team rituals
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field (recently graduated or graduating Fall 2026/Spring 2027)
- Experience building web applications (personal projects, coursework, or internships)
- Comfort working across the stack—you don't need to be an expert, but you're curious about both frontend and backend
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Ability to work on-site in our New York office
Nice to Haves
- Experience with React, Python, FastAPI, or PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
- Interest in fintech, insurtech, or regulated industries
- Prior internship experience in fast-paced environments
