About Aboon
Setting up a 401(k) shouldn't be the hardest thing a business ever does. But retirement plan administration is complex, fragmented, and manual — and it slows down both business owners and the advisors who serve them. Aboon was founded to change that.
We're an AI-native third-party administrator (TPA) that makes it easy for advisors to offer 401(k)s and other retirement products by pairing streamlined workflows with dedicated human service. Backed by investors including Bain Capital and Edward Jones Ventures, we bring decades of experience building for advisors and the retirement industry. We're looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to build it with us.
About the role
We're looking for a senior leader to build, scale and run our plan administration and relationship management function while driving the digital transformation of retirement plan servicing. You'll own the operational engine behind our TPA—the processes, tech, and team—and design how the work gets done, putting AI at the center of it.
You'll report to our COO and partner closely with product and engineering to find the highest-leverage ways for AI agents to automate plan servicing work. You'll set and maintain quality standards, recruit and develop the right team, and serve as our in-house expert on plan administration.
We're a lean, fully remote team that runs on autonomy and trust, so you'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and change and lead work from vision to execution. This is an opportunity to directly shape the operational and cultural fabric of the company.
What you'll do
Build and scale operations
Build and scale the plan services function on a foundation of clear process and documentation, so the team runs on accountability and transparency rather than layers of management.
Develop the operational frameworks, playbooks, and self-service training that let the team grow quickly and sustainably.
Set SLAs, quality metrics, and continuous-improvement processes with automated quality tracking and feedback built in, and design service delivery models that hold quality steady as volume grows.
Lead digital transformation
Lead the adoption of AI and workflow automation across servicing operations to achieve key operational metrics and make the day-to-day work better for the team.
Partner with product and engineering to find the highest-leverage servicing work that AI agents can take on, and drive integration between our systems and partner platforms.
Stay close to emerging tools and technologies, and bring the best of them into how the team works.
Build and lead the team
Recruit, develop, and retain a world-class operations team, and build a mission-driven culture where people are supported, challenged, and growing.
Coach and mentor the team, and identify and grow the next generation of operational leaders.
Be the expert
Serve as our subject matter expert on regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and lead the complex client consultations that need senior-level expertise.
Keep the team ahead of industry trends, building the internal expertise and training that keep our service sharp.
Build Aboon's reputation and presence in the industry with advisors, partners, and the broader retirement community.
Contribute operational and compliance insight to product development as we build.
Own compliance and risk
Own compliance and risk management for the function, with monitoring and reporting built into the workflow.
What you bring
Required
10+ years in retirement plan administration, TPA, or recordkeeping operations, including several years leading and scaling teams.
Deep working knowledge of the ERISA, IRS, and DOL rules governing qualified retirement plans, and the confidence to be the in-house authority on them.
A track record of scaling operations through process and technology, not just headcount.
Experience setting SLAs, quality standards, and service-delivery models in a high-volume environment.
Real enthusiasm for using AI and automation to improve how operations work, with examples you can point to.
High agency and comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage, fast-paced setting.
Strong people leadership: recruiting, coaching, developing, and retaining talent.
Clear communication and the ability to explain not just what you decided, but why.
Nice to have
Industry credentials such as QKA, QPA, CPC, or ERPA.
Experience at a fintech, wealthtech, or high-growth startup.
Experience standing up or heavily using AI-enabled operational tooling.
